With Apple Trade In, it’s easy to trade in your eligible device for credit. You can also get trade-in credit with a carrier deal, right here at Apple.

How to trade in your iPhone.

 

Here’s how it works:

See what your eligible device is worth.

Answer a few questions to get your estimated trade-in value.

  • If you choose to pay the full amount today, we’ll credit your payment method after we receive and evaluate your trade-in.
  • If you finance your new iPhone, the credit will be applied instantly.
  • If you finance with your carrier, your maximum trade-in value will be applied as an instant credit or bill credits (depending on your carrier).
  • If you select a carrier deal, we’ll let you know if you need to switch to a qualifying plan.
  • If you lease your new iPhone with Apple Upgrade, your trade-in credit will be applied monthly over the term of your lease upon initial enrollment.

 

Get it ready to trade in.

You’ll keep your trade-in device until you receive your new iPhone. We’ll send a trade-in kit and email instructions on how to back up and transfer your data, and how to prep your device before you ship it back. You may receive the kit along with your new iPhone. Otherwise, it will be mailed to you separately as soon as your order is ready for delivery or pickup.

 

Ship your trade-in device within 14 days of receiving your trade-in kit.

Once we receive your device, our team will inspect and verify its condition. If everything checks out, your trade-in is complete. If your device doesn’t match the condition you described, you’ll receive an email with next steps.

 

Keep in mind:

If the value of your trade-in is more than the cost of your new iPhone or Apple Upgrade monthly payments, you’ll receive an Apple Gift Card by email with the remaining amount.

How does recycling work?

If your device doesn’t qualify for trade-in credit, we’ll recycle it for free. Once you complete your purchase, you’ll get an email with a prepaid shipping label and instructions on how to pack up your device and send it to your nearest drop-off location.

We can also help you recycle your other devices, cables, cases, monitors, and more. Recycle them for free at an Apple Store or visit Apple Trade In for information on other options. Your items will be reused or disposed of in an environmentally responsible way.


 

◊ Trade-in values will vary based on the condition, year, and configuration of your eligible trade-in device. Not all devices are eligible for credit. You must be at least the age of majority to be eligible to trade in for credit or for an Apple Gift Card. Trade-in value may be applied toward qualifying new device purchase, or added to an Apple Gift Card. Actual value awarded is based on receipt of a qualifying device matching the description provided when estimate was made. Sales tax may be assessed on full value of a new device purchase. In-store trade-in requires presentation of a valid photo ID (local law may require saving this information). Offer may not be available in all stores, and may vary between in-store and online trade-in. Some stores may have additional requirements. Apple or its trade-in partners reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or limit quantity of any trade-in transaction for any reason.
